The Department of Chemistry was founded in the fall of 2004 as the first-established department in the School of Science of RUC. Its establishment marks an emergence of a comprehensive research-orientated Renmin University.

The Department is undergoing a rapid growth phase. Currently, we have 19 faculty members actively engaged in teaching and research in virtually all branches of frontier chemistry. Each of the faculty members possesses Ph.D degree, and all members above associate professor have the experiences of studying abroad. To copy with the rapid development of today’s various experimental methods employed in research and teaching, and provide an excellent condition for study, the Department has equipped its laboratories with a wide range of state-of-the-art scientific instruments. The undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in 2004 and 2005, respectively, are now studying in the Department.

The Department always has a dynamic culture, with students, faculty and staff sharing a common passion to be among the best in the near future.
